Seinämaalausluonnoksia - Mural Sketches

Olen suunnitellut olohuoneemme seinän yläosaan seinä- maalauksia. Muille seinille tulee leveät koristekuviot, mutta ikkunaseinälle maalaan Kalevalan luonnottaria. Kuu ja aurinko, maa, ilma, tuli ja vesi. Eli Päivätär ja Kuutar, Maatar, Ilmatar, Panutar ja Aallotar. Maalauksista tulee 90 cm leveitä ja 40 cm korkeita. Neitoset on jo luonnosteltu, maalaushommiin pääsen sitten joskus... kunhan olohuone on muuten valmis. Inspiraatiota luonnoksiin sain Muchan taiteesta. (Edellisen postauksen kattokuvassa näkyy seinän yläosa, maalaukset tulee sinne hirsien väliin.)

I have planned murals for our living room walls. Other walls will have wide ornaments by the upper edge of the wall, but the wall with windows will have "Luonnotar" figures from Finnish national epic Kalevala. Luonnotar is a Finnish name for certain kind of nature spirits or nature goddesses. I am painting six of them, spirits for sun (Päivätär) and moon (Kuutar), earth (Maatar), air (Ilmatar), fire (Panutar) and water (Aallotar). Each mural will be 90 cm wide and 40 cm tall. I have drawn the sketches and will paint them... eventually, when the living room is finished. I got inspiration for the sketches from Mucha's art. (You can see the wall in the ceiling picture of the previous post, I will paint the pictures between the beam ends there.)

Merenneitoluonnos - Mermaid sketch

Aloittelen juuri tilaustyötä, josta tulee merenneito. Tämä piir- tämäni luonnos on mallina. Jalusta on melkein valmis, oli mielenkiintoista saada merenneito "leijumaan" ilmassa, siis kellumaan vedessä... kuvia tulee kunhan on jotain näyttämistä.

I am making a commission sculpture, a mermaid. This is a sketch I have drawn, she will be based on it. The base is almost finished, it was very interesting to get the mermaid floating in the air - like in water... I'll post pics when I have something to show.

Ajautumista talven mystisiin tunnelmiin / Mystical winter

Eihän täällä vielä mikään talvi ole, vettä sataa ja muutama aste plussalla, talven tunnelmia saa hakea kaukaa. Mutta kun tuo joulukin lähestyy, niin ajatukseni alkavat hakeutua talveen ja pakkaseen, tähtien tuikkeeseen ja kimmeltävään lumeen... Luonnostelin kuurattaren, talven neidon, lumen jumalattaren... miksikä häntä nyt halutaankaan sanoa. Maalauksen pohjatyöt on jo aloitettu, joten lähipäivinä ehkä sitten näette valmiin työn. No, not winter here yet, it is wet and raining, and a few degrees above zero (celcius), hard to reach the spirit of the winter. But Holiday season is coming and my thoughts are wandering towards the winter and frost, sparkling sky of stars and white sparkling snow... So I have been sketching the Frost Lady, Maiden of the Winter, Snow Goddess... whatever you want to call her. I have started the paintwork, so you might see the finished pece in a few days.
